Trick-or-Treat!

The kids had a blast trick-or-treating with the daddies while Kel & I stayed back at their place handing out candy (we left a bowl of candy out at ours). Vivian decided to wear both the tutu and the unicorn costume to look extra special.

Vivi got a little jealous of Kayla's crown, so Kayla found one that she could wear. Made my little girl feel like a princess. :)

Halloween school party & parade

Today was Owen's class party and school parade. The kids were so cute in their costumes and the party was fun too - they had a snack, did a craft and read a Halloween story. Grandma Marshall came too! Such a fun afternoon. My favorite part was when Owen had Vivi sit right next to him during the story. Such a good big brother. :)

Practice

In preparation for the big night tomorrow, Owen has been living in his Halloween costume for the past two days. I make him take it off for meals and potty time, but otherwise, he's been rockin' the fire fighter duds round the clock. (His good buddy Lucas gave it to him for his birthday and Owen thought it was so cool!)

Vivian is going to be a unicorn, but we were getting a little stir crazy with the hurricane going on all day, so I pulled out her tutu from last Christmas and she took some twirling lessons from her big brother the spinning fire fighter.

Pumpkin Patch @ Great Country Farms

This year we went to our farm to get our pumpkins and had so much fun. It was Ben's first time to the farm, even though we've been members all season, so the kids were excited to show him around.

We ate lunch at the Roosteraunt, then walked over to the line to get on the hayride to the pumpkin patch. The kids loved running through the patch, checking out all the cool pumpkins. We settled on one bumpy one and one regular one. They're really neat and I'm looking forward to carving them in another week or two.

The kids are getting excited for Halloween this year!

Trick-or-Treat!

Owen went over to Kayla's neighborhood for Trick-or-Treat this year.

Last night, he woke up from a sound sleep at 9:30pm coughing and wheezing like he couldn't breathe. It was so scary. Ben put him in the car and was halfway to the hospital when he turned around and came home because he said he thought he was better. We called the advice nurse and she thought he might have had an asthma attack or something of the sort.

We decided to pull his mattress in our room for the night and he slept fine, although Ben and I were on pins and needles most of the night. At 7:30am this morning, I took him in for a checkup while Ben stayed home with Vivian. The doc thought the same, and put him on an oral steroid and the nebulizer for a few days. He goes back tomorrow for a checkup.

He was dragging a bit tonight, but overall had a fun time. Vivi and I stayed home to man the candy-giveaway. She was a trooper and stayed up until 7:30, but was ready to hit the hay at that point. Owen came home with a pumpkin bucket FULL of candy! We let him choose one piece to have tonight and he picked a Reese's peanut butter cup ~ Mommy's favorite too!

Once he was in bed, he was out fast. It was a very fun Halloween this year!

SNOW before Halloween?!?!

We decided to check out "Air & Scare" this year at the Udvar Hazy Center near Dulles Airport. Apparently, all of Ashburn, Chantilly and Herndon decided they were going to see what it was all about too. It opened at 2pm and we got out the door at 4pm, but that must have been everyone else's idea too because we came to a dead stop about 2 miles away from the museum's entrance.

At least it didn't take too long to get through all the traffic and find a parking spot. But boy was it crowded. Kids (and some parents too!) in costume all over and they got to trick-or-treat throughout the museum, thanks to M&M Mars (c'mon Hershey, gotta step it up and sponsor next year!). :)


It was a very fun event and I think we'll be making it an annual tradition.

Happy Halloween 2009

This afternoon we decided to get out and enjoy the balmy weather. We packed a picnic and headed to one of our favorite wineries, Chrysalis. It was Halloween day, so of course we had to take advantage of another opportunity to put Owen in his Pooh costume! Hey, he's not going to be this little forever! :)

After we got home and the little man took a nap, it was off to Greg & Erica's Halloween par-tay! Luckily we arrived just in time to see Andy & Maureen's 8-week old baby Adam. I got to hold the little guy before he headed home where Grandma and Grandpa were there to babysit so his mommy and daddy could enjoy the party. The men, in costume. Don't ask me what Ben is supposed to be. Steph and Scott arrived soon after that, with their little Love Bug in tow. Sarah Catherine was so adorable in red and black and Owen was so happy to see his little playmate. Now he had someone to drum up trouble with, especially since they're both walking now! Erica and I pose for a picture in costume: The girls ~ Erica was busy in the kitchen ~ she cooked up two fabulous homemade mac & cheese dishes, along with special meatballs and fresh salad. Everything was amazing. For dessert Ben baked a pumpkin cheesecake. Everyone was stuffed by the end of the night. We peeled the costumes off our little babies and let them run around while we caught up. It was such a fun night!

Halloween parade

Today was Owen's daycare Halloween parade. I sent him in this morning with his costume and was instructed to show up at 4pm to get a good spot to watch the parade. Ben was able to leave work a little early to be there too!

We got a quick glimpse of him as they came out the front door...



We then waited patiently at our post for Owen to come around. He was being pulled in a red wagon by one of his teachers, Miss Kate, and his friend Samantha was riding with him. He was still a little overwhelmed with all of the attention.

Once his Daddy picked him up, all was right again in the world.

Then it was frosted cookie time!





I think our little Pooh bear enjoyed his first "school" Halloween party. :)
