Blankets taste good

Today was a gorgeous spring day. Owen and I took advantage of the weather and did a long walk which included a stop at the playground so he could ride in the swing again. He loved it! Then when we got home I thought I'd take some pictures and a video outside.

I had Owen model his new sun hat that he'll be wearing in sunny Florida when we go next month. Only 17 days until we go!!!

Visit with Aunt Fran and Uncle Rich

Yesterday afternoon Owen and I drove to Rockville to visit with Aunt Fran and Uncle Rich. We had fun playing and catching up with them.

When I woke up in Hershey yesterday morning, Owen was squealing with delight. I got out of bed and looked at him in the Pack 'n Play. This is what I found:



No, I do not put my child to sleep in only a diaper. Those are his pajamas around his ankles. Not sure how he managed to escape them!

Hershey for a few days

Ben was away this week at a Leadership Conference for his work, so instead of staying home alone, Owen and I decided to head to Hershey to visit my Grandma and Cindy. We had a great time and had a nice surprise when I ran into one of my old neighbors, Melanie. We even went to Chocolate World. :-)

Down on the farm

This past Sunday Ben and I decided to take Owen to the Frying Pan Farm in Herndon. Owen enjoyed looking at the different animals and we even asked a stranger to take our picture so we could have a family shot.

Grandma and Grandpa Marshall (aka Ta-Ta and Pa-Pa) took us all out to lunch today to celebrate Owen's 6-month birthday. We had a great time at Red Robin, and upon leaving grabbed a balloon for Owen. He had a blast playing with it today. Here's a little video and picture from when we got home:

Sitting up all by himself!

Owen is starting to sit up unassisted and it's so fun to watch. It's fun at least, until he topples over and starts crying! (Luckily that has only happened once or twice so far!)

Avocado

Despite my repeated attempts to introduce Owen to avocado, he didn't like it very much. We got a kick out of it though.

Babysitters

Today during our playdate with Steph and Sarah Catherine, we put the babies in some "babysitter" toys while we made lunch. As you can see, Owen had fun watching Sarah Catherine enjoy his swing.

The end of a fun day despite the weather

Today we played inside because it was so overcast and dreary outside. Owen enjoyed his aquarium and fishies for awhile:

Practicing sitting up

Today Erica and Greg had us, along with Andy and Maureen, over for lunch. We had a great time eating and catching up with everyone. After lunch we watched some golf and played with Roxie ~ Erica and Greg's new puppy. I am unhappy to report that I forgot my camera. But here is a picture of Owen when we got home:



When we got home I was playing with Owen on his playstation (what we call his play area in the living room) and I noticed that he was starting to sit up unassisted. So I did what any proud momma would do ~ I took a video clip of it!

We had a great day today! We had a 2-hour nap in the morning, then went to see my friend Mindy and her 4-week old baby boy Lucas. Us mommies had fun catching up over lunch and then went for a stroll around the neighborhood with the boys. Owen was pooped from all the excitement ~ he slept another 2 hours in the afternoon!

Tonight for dinner Owen had carrots and he did so well. He's really getting good at eating. Just took some practice. :)

Playdate with Sarah Catherine

On Tuesday we drove to Maryland to see Owen's friend Sarah Catherine. The babies had some playtime, the mommies had some lunch, and then it was off for a walk in the strollers. Little did we know what we were in for. About 10 minutes into the walk Owen started fussing, then crying, then screaming. We kept walking, but he didn't let up. Finally, mommy put the hood up on the stroller and he was quiet. Then Sarah Catherine started crying. We couldn't win. We got a good laugh out of the whole situation. :)

The babies were sleepy for their afternoon naps, so we hit the road after that. Owen fell asleep one minute into the drive.



We're looking forward to our next playdate next week!

Wine tasting on a beautiful Saturday

Yesterday was so nice outside we decided to pack a picnic and hit some wineries. We went to three we had never been to before: Dry Mill (it was their first day open to the public!), Casanel, and Quattro Goomba's, and then stopped at one of our favorites, Crysalis for the picnic. Owen was wide awake the entire time and we think he had a fun time as you'll see from the pictures and video. :)

Playdate with Cooper

Today Owen and I went over to Kamber's house for a playdate. Her son Cooper is 10 days older than Owen. The boys had a great time playing together and the mommies enjoyed some lunch and conversation. :)

Bath time

Owen loves his bath time. We do them almost every night because he has so much fun. Tonight I asked Ben to snap some pictures.
