3cm ~ maybe we can avoid that induction after all!

So when my left ankle blew up this afternoon, I took mom's advice and called the doctor. (Well, first I called Molly, but since she was at work and no one at L&D answered the phone, I figured she was busy with her patients.) So I called my OB's office and the nurse said I had to come in so they could make sure it wasn't a blood clot.

Luckily it wasn't. Just lots and lots of water retaining going on. FUN. The other fun thing was that I got to have another internal exam (ouch!) and I found out that in 24 hours time I dialated another 1.5cm and my cervix is very soft!!! Yippee!!!

I called Ben and had him come home just in case (he was on his way anyway). His eyes were so big when he walked in the door tonight. Made me laugh. We went on a 30 minute walk, and now I'm just resting.

That's the update. :) I don't know if I'll be able to sleep tonight ~ I'm so excited to meet this little guy!!!

No baby yet ~ he's being very stubborn

My 40-week checkup was today. I'm only 1/2 cm further dialated, putting me at 1.5cm and 50% effaced. I had my membranes stripped yet again, so we'll see if it does anything. Chances are it won't. We're scheduling an induction for next week, just waiting to hear back from the doctor's office to see what the hospital has available. But hopefully he'll decide to show up before then. We can only hope. I don't think my ankles can get any more swollen.

Aunt Hillary

This went completely over my head when she first mentioned it to us, but Ben's sister Hillary is going to be an aunt for the first time when baby boy makes his appearance (hopefully soon!). Yup, she's going to be Aunt Hill ~ aka Ant Hill!!!

Love ya Hillary ~ can't wait to see you when you get home!

Cheesecake ~ yum!

Last night Ben and I decided to go out for dinner since when baby boy arrives we probably won't have the chance to do that for a few weeks since we'll be getting to know him. Ben let me choose the restaurant, so I picked The Cheesecake Factory!

We had a relaxing evening out and enjoyed a piece of Snickers Bar cheesecake for dessert. (I enjoyed more of it than Ben did, but hey, I'm eating for two!) :)

I lied...

I said I wouldn't post any more belly shots, but then I remembered that back when we became pregnant, I really did want to capture the changes, so we took another belly shot and I feel compelled to post it.

For obvious reasons, I'm really hoping this is the last belly shot we take. :)

At my last appt, my doctor said she thinks he weighs about 7lbs right now. Since I haven't had many signs of labor starting soon, he'll probably gain another 1/2 lb before we deliver. That would put my mom's guess at his weight spot on!

39-week checkup ~ not much change

Yes folks, I'm still pregnant. I am still only 1cm dialated, but am now 50% effaced. Baby boy is still high. My OB stripped my membranes, and I am hoping and praying that this may bring on labor in the next 3-4 days. But she did say that I very well may remain pregnant for another 7-10 days. UGH.

My next appointment is in a week and if he hasn't arrived by then, we'll be scheduling an induction.

10-day countdown

No baby yet. I'm incredibly uncomfortable and cannot wait until this baby arrives. My next appointment is on Wednesday, and we're hoping to see some progress. I'll keep you posted! (In case you're wondering, there will be no more belly shots, I'm far too swollen.)

Nursery ~ it's almost finished

Here are some pics of the nursery. (You'll notice that I used Photoshop to cover up the baby's name which we have up on the wall since we're keeping it a surprise until he's born.)

I still need to get a nursing stool for my feet while I'm in the glider, and I'm searching all over for a rectangular mirror with a white wooden frame for above the changing table. Otherwise, all we need is for a certain baby boy to arrive to make it complete!

38-week checkup

Today was my 38-week checkup. I was hoping to be further dialated, but that wasn't the case. I'm still 1cm dialated and am 20% effaced, and the baby is high. So I guess we'll have to keep waiting. I'm trying my best to be patient, but it's tough!

My next appointment is on Wednesday, September 10th unless something happens before then.
