Molly's birthday celebration

Last night Grandma and Grandpa Marshall (Ta-Ta and Pa-Pa) came over to babysit so we could attend Molly's 30th birthday bash. We went out to dinner first, then met up with everyone at the bar. Everyone had a great time, especially when Ben got up to sing "I wanna sex you up" during karaoke.

Saturday visit to a winery

The weather was so gorgeous yesterday that we decided to pack a picnic and go out to a winery or two. We ended up choosing Hidden Brook and Lost Creek - both in Leesburg, VA. Owen had a bottle and then we ate our lunch on the patio at Lost Creek.

Sweet Potatoes

The lack of posting this week has been due to the fact that on Monday afternoon Owen came down with a fever at daycare. I dropped everything at work and pick him up to take him to the pediatrician. After several hours at the doctor's office, we were sent to the hospital so they could get an x-ray of his lungs to rule out pnemonia. Luckily it wasn't, but he did have bronchialitis - a virus that attacks the lungs. After a couple of days of rest I am happy to report that the pediatrican gave him a clean bill of health today. The only thing that remains is a cough, but she said that will fade in a week or so. On this past Sunday we went to church and aftwards, tried giving Owen sweet potatoes. He did pretty good! He's getting better and better at eating, and now he even opens his mouth for the spoon to go in. :) Enjoy the picture and video! Swimming on Saturday

Ben had the brilliant idea of taking Owen swimming this weekend. We packed our swim bag and set off for the rec center. Owen had a blast! (Mommy and Daddy had fun too!)

Playdate w/ Steph & Owen's two front teeth

Today when we were getting ready for our lunch date with Stephanie and Sarah Catherine, Mommy noticed that Owen's two bottom front teeth have started coming in! Mommy tried her best to get a picture, but it just wasn't happening.

We met Steph and her baby girl at the Cheesecake Factory in Tyson's and had a great time catching up with them. Owen even snuck in a little nap courtesy of the restaurant's wonderful white noise.

Snow day!!!

So far we've gotten a little over 2 inches, and they're calling for 4-6. Ben worked from home today and this afternoon he took a break to take some pictures with Owen and I outside.

Learning to sit up

Today Owen and I practiced sitting up (with assistance, of course). He's getting better at eating rice cereal, so today we went to the grocery store and bought some vegetables for him to try. Stay tuned for some new posts documenting this experience. :-)

Owen's new thing is to stand up while holding hands with Mommy or Daddy. This new trick can entertain him for what seems like forever. Or, until he gets tired and plops down to a seated position! :)

Mommy went out this morning (with Owen in tow) to purchase him a high chair. When I got home Ben put it together and then we gave him his first taste of solids. Owen in his new highchair ~ ready to eat! Video clip of his very first solids feeding:
