Hide and seek

Owen played this game of hide-and-seek with himself on the way home from Hershey last week. Made me laugh!

Splash Park

Today we met up with Steph and Sarah Catherine to have lunch and cool off at the Splash Park in Germantown. The babies LOVED it! And the mommies had fun too. :)

Steph snapped a picture of Owen and I for me, but when I went to take one of her and Sarah Catherine - I found out my battery had died. Ugh. Next time I'll be prepared with a fully charged battery!

We did manage to capture this cute video of the kids crawling funny to protect their knees:

Visit with GiGi, Grandma and Grandpa Killi

Thursday Owen and I drove up to Hershey since my parents were in town. We visited with Great Grandma Lang and had so much fun exploring her house. My mom's cousin Shirley knitted Owen a beautiful baby blanket and it arrived when we were there.

After spending two days in Chocolate town, we headed back to Virginia. Owen was a very good traveler. Saturday night we just relaxed and ordered pizza. Then on Sunday we went over to the Silbert's for a visit. A good time was had by all. :)

We're sad to say goodbye, but are excited that we'll see them again in only 24 days! Owen and I are booked on a flight to FL the same day Ben leaves for California to meet up with my brother for Blizzcon. Nerdfest is the best way to describe it.

Add another to the list...

Today on our drive to meet Uncle Rich for lunch, Owen was playing with his hands so I said, "Clap Owen!" and he clapped! Multiple times!!! I love seeing all his firsts. It's the little things...

Happy 10 months Owen!!!

Our baby is 10 months old today!!! The time has flown by so fast. Owen seems to be growing up so quickly. Here is a list of things he has been doing lately:

~ Crawling
~ Drinking from his sippy cups
~ Eating some big people food
~ Splashing in his froggy pool
~ Pulling himself up on furniture
~ Waving hi and bye-bye (this just happened this week!)
~ Standing up on his own for 10-15 seconds (this just happened yesterday!)

Our little man is going to be 1 before we know it! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Frying Pan Farm & Sunday Boating

We had an action-packed Sunday! Owen slept in until 7:15am which was a lovely start to the day. We had breakfast and got ready and then met up with Kelly, Matt and their daughter Kayla at the farm. The kids had fun checking out the animals. Owen was scared of the cows in the barn - they were mooing very loudly.

After we fed Owen, we hit the road to the marina. We met up with Grandma and Grandpa Marshall, aka Ta-Ta and Pa-Pa, and had a wonderful picnic lunch. Pa-Pa grilled up brats, corn on the cob, and steak and we also had fresh tomatoes from the farmer's market on the way. We were all stuffed.

We then headed out on the boat. Owen wore his life vest but it seems it's getting a little snug so I think we'll be shopping for a new one for him soon. He did much better this time compared to our last outing when he was teething pretty bad. Ben and I each took a turn driving the boat and Ben did a great job of docking it with Curt's guidance. Owen was so pooped by the end of the afternoon he fell asleep below deck with Tish and Ben was able to pick him up still asleep. He probably would have stayed asleep, but when Ben was stepping off the boat onto the dock, Owen's pacifier dropped out of his mouth and into the water. Luckily, Pa-Pa was able to retrieve it for Owen! It was a very fun afternoon!

Saturday BBQ w/ Steph, Scott, and SC

Today we had such a fun day!! Our good friends Steph, Scott, and Sarah Catherine came over for a late afternoon BBQ. The weather was perfect. The babies loved playing together and the adults got in a few games of cornhole in between drinks and dinner. We put the babies in the froggy pool for a little swim before we ate. At one point Owen just stood up on his own in the pool! It happened so fast and I was so surprised that I wasn't able to catch it on camera.

Later we took the Pack 'N Play outside on the deck to contain the babies while we ate. It worked out perfectly! Before they left while Ben explained the exciting world of WOW to Scott, I propped Owen up, let go, and all of a sudden he was standing all by himself! I caught the tail end of the stand on video. I think we may have a walker on our hands in the coming weeks!

An afternoon in DC

This afternoon Owen and I went into DC with Grandma Marshall. We walked through the gardens at the Smithsonian, had lunch at the Natural History Museum, saw the exhibits at the musuem, and then rode the carousel before heading home on the metro. Owen's favorite part was the carousel ride. Ta-Ta bought him two rides! One with Grandma and one with Mommy. He was a little cranky on the metro trip home but got to sleep the entire ride home which ended up being about an hour. Thank you to Grandma Marshall for a very fun day!!!

Sunday BBQ with the Deputys

Erica and Greg came over today for a BBQ lunch. Ben was busy cooking away in the kitchen and at the grill. He made chips and guac, bruschetta and toasts, yummy wings, turkey burgers with brie and apples, potato salad, and we had an easy strawberry shortcake for dessert. We were all stuffed by the end of the afternoon. I even skipped dinner since I was still feeling full. We played a few games of cornhole and Owen took a dip in his froggy pool. It was so fun to hang out with Greg and Erica since we don't get to see them very often and we look forward to our next get-together in August.

Lunch date

Today we went to lunch with our good friends Steph and Sarah Catherine. The babies were very well behaved during our time in the restaurant, despite their dislike of the avacado we fed them. Both of them spit it out! I had mixed some with Owen's peas, and after he figured out there was avacado in there, he refused them. Sarah Catherine was so sweet to share her sweet potatoes with him so he wouldn't go hungry. :)

4th of July in West Virginia

Tim and Andrea were in town for the 4th and lucky for us they invited us out to West Virginia to Andrea's parent's house for a 4th of July celebration. Andrea's sister Erin announced her pregnancy ~ YAY! ~ Olivia will soon have a cousin! (see Erin & Kevin's blog link on the sidebar to the right). The weather could not have been more perfect. We ate, drank, and played games until the sun went down. The kiddies splashed around in the froggy pool and then took naps in the late afternoon. A huge "Thank you" to Marti and Tom for hosting the party! The last time we were all together both Andrea and I were pregnant at Luke & Erin's wedding.

At one point during the day when we were playing with the babies Tim exclaimed, "We have kids!". Yes Tim, that we do. :)

We had so much fun and can't wait to all get together again. By then the babies probably will both be walking!

Herndon Rocks!

Friday night we went out to Herdnon to hit up Herndon Rocks with Kel, Matt and Kayla. The babies had so much fun dancing around to the music. Unfortunately, since there was an opening band, we only got to hear one song from Crowded Streets - the DMB cover band that we went to see. But it was still a good time. :)
